Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh dill
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1/2 cucumber (diced)

Method

  1. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Stir well.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon minced fresh dill, 1 clove minced garlic, and 1/2 diced cucumber to the yogurt mixture.
  3. Stir all ingredients until thoroughly combined and smooth.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

- For the best texture, use a thick, full-fat Greek yogurt. If your yogurt is thin, strain it through a cheesecloth for an hour or two to remove excess whey.
- Don't skip mincing the garlic and dill finely; it ensures even flavor distribution without overpowering the sauce.
- If the tzatziki sauce tastes a bit watery after a day, stir it again. The salt draws out moisture from the cucumber over time.
