Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup buffalo sauce or sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup (honey, or brown sugar)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon water

Method

  1. Combine buffalo sauce, soy sauce, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, salt, red pepper flakes, and water in a medium bowl.
  2. Whisk the ingredients thoroughly until the sauce is well combined and a deep red/orange color.
  3. Taste the sauce and adjust the heat, sweetness, or salt levels as desired.
  4. Use the sauce immediately as a marinade, baste, or glaze for chicken or fish.
  5. Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

Notes

- For extra depth, toast the red pepper flakes lightly in a dry skillet before adding them to the sauce. This enhances their aroma and flavor.
- If you prefer a milder sauce, start with half the buffalo sauce/sriracha and add more gradually to reach your desired heat level.
- This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. It's excellent for meal prep, allowing you to quickly add flavor to various dishes.
