Ingredients

  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor.
  2. Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and no large pieces remain.
  3. Transfer the sauce to a saucepan and simmer over medium-low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  4. Allow the sauce to cool completely before serving or storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Notes

- For an extra smooth strawberry BBQ sauce, pass the blended sauce through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any strawberry seeds.
- Adjust the sweetness or heat: add a pinch more sugar if your strawberries aren't very sweet, or a dash of cayenne for more kick.
- Storage: Keep leftover strawberry BBQ sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. It can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
