Below is a plain account of the information SauceGrove handles, what it is used for, and how to have it removed.
Where this applies
This policy covers this website. It does not cover the sites we link to, each of which has its own, nor any social platform where the site has a presence: there, the platform’s rules govern what it collects, and we see only what it chooses to show us.
What is collected
Loading a page transmits technical data: your IP address, the browser and device you use, which pages you open, the site you came from, and how long you read. We keep it in aggregate and never link it to a person.
You give us data only when you choose to: whatever you write if you use the contact form.
We pass your IP address to an outside service (country.is) when you do something that sends data in — send the contact form or run a search — so we can tell which country the request comes from. It returns only the country; we keep that country code for a day, under a fingerprint of the address rather than the address itself. From outside the countries the site serves, those actions are declined: the form says so, and a search just returns you to the homepage. This check never happens when you simply read a page or an article.

The companies involved
One outside service touches this data: our hosting provider, which keeps the server logs and the database, under its own privacy policy. There is no analytics, no advertising and no mail provider. No cookies are set; some pages call Gravatar for an author avatar, the only other outside domain. This page will be updated before any advertising, analytics or mail service is added.
No data is passed to an outside analytics, advertising or mail service, so none crosses to the United States that way. If such a provider is ever added, this page will say where the data goes before it moves.
Subscribing
Lawful basis
Where European or United Kingdom law applies, the grounds are these: legitimate interest for keeping the site running, and legal obligation where one exists. There are no non-essential cookies, and nothing about what is read is measured.
How long it is kept
How long things last: hosting logs are rotated by the host, and contact-form messages are deleted once the conversation is over. The newsletter has been withdrawn, and the addresses collected for it were deleted from the site on 12 October 2026.
Your choices
Three requests are always available to you: show what is held, fix it, delete it. The site sets no cookies. EEA, UK and California readers have statutory rights on top of this, and we extend them to all.
What never happens
No personal information is sold or passed on for independent marketing by someone else, and no data broker features anywhere. Readers in California can take that as the CCPA position: there is no sale to opt out of.
No profiling
Nothing on this site makes an automated decision affecting you, and there is no profiling of consequence. It is a publication, not a system that rates people.
Readers under 13
Readers under 13 are not the audience for SauceGrove and we do not knowingly hold their data. A message from a parent or guardian is enough to have anything of the sort erased.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS and access to anything we store is restricted. That is protection, not invulnerability, and we will not dress it up as more than it is.
Raising a problem
Complaints are best raised with us first, through the contact page, because that is quickest. You keep the right to go straight to your data protection authority instead.
Revisions
Any revision is dated at the top of the page, and anything substantial is flagged on the site itself.
